Sunday 29 January 2012. Several of us from Aero Safety visited the Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey, located next to the control tower at Teterboro Airport. If you haven’t been to the Hall of Fame recently, put it on your list of things to do! You will learn something new with each visit.

This visit, I wanted to pay my respects to World War II Ace Pilot Frank Hill, who passed away earlier this month. Mr. Hill flew 166 combat missions over Europe and Africa, during which he downed seven Axis planes. He was the top US Spitfire Ace of the war. He was also reportedly the first American pilot to shoot down a Nazi plane. When Mr. Hill returned to Hillsdale, NJ in 1943, he was greeted by a over 3,000 people with a parade and reception – a true Hero’s welcome home.

When you visit the Hall of Fame, please visit Frank Hill’s plaque to learn more about this World War II Hero and New Jersey native.

Joe Kogan and N5491J, back on the ground at N07 after their cross-country flight!

Congratulations to Student Pilot Joe Kogan of New York for completion of his first solo cross-country flight! On 30 December, Joe Kogan left his Flight Instructor, Matt D’Angelo, on the ground at N07 and enjoyed a beautiful solo flight from Lincoln Park (N07) to Sullivan County International (KMSV) and back. Congratulations on your first solo cross-country flight!

Scott Parsons First Solo!

Scott Parsons of Upper Montclair, NJ, flew solo for the first time on 30 December 2011! Scott took off and landed from N07′s Runway 19 beautifully as Pilot In Command of Skyhawk N5491J.  Flight Instructor Matt D’Angelo watched with delight from the taxiway.

David Prieto with Skyhawk N5491J, back home at N07 after their flight to Sullivan County International!

Congratulations to Student Pilot David Prieto of Fair Lawn, NJ for successfully completing his first solo cross-country flight! On the afternoon of 18 December, after reviewing his flight planning with instructor Matt D’Angelo, David departed from Lincoln Park ( N07 ) enroute to Sullivan County International ( KMSV ). David had great weather along his route of flight and did an excellent job navigating to and from KMSV. He also maintained sharp situational awareness amongst heavier than usual air traffic at both airports. He completed the day’s adventure with a beautiful landing on Runway 01 at N07.

Walter Lamerton and N5491J, back on the ground at N07 after their cross-country adventure!

Congratulations to Student Pilot Walter Lamerton or Ridgewood, NJ for completion of his first solo cross-country flight! Just after sunrise on the morning of 3 December, after reviewing his flight planning with instructor Matt D’Angelo, Walter took off from Lincoln Park ( N07 ) and embarked on an adventure. Charts and flight plan in hand, with the G1000 panel for back-up, Walter navigated to Sullivan County International ( KMSV ), 50 nautical miles to the North West. After navigating back to Lincoln Park, Walter made a beautiful landing to cap off a huge accomplishment!

David Prieto First Solo

Congratulations to David Prieto of Fair Lawn, New Jersey on accomplishing his first solo flight on October 23, 2011. He made his first solo flight at the controls of a Cessna Skyhawk under the tutelage of flight instructor Matthew D’Angelo. Well done, David! Congratulations from all of us at Aero Safety Training.

Gary Sinensky earns Commercial Pilot rating

Hats off to Gary Sinensky for his most recent accomplishment. He added commercial pilot to his list of ratings on October 9, 2011. Gary earned his private, instrument, and commercial ratings at Aero Safety Training and all of us are delighted by his recent success.
